March 8th is not just any day!
Today we celebrate International Women’s Day around the world, any tribute will be little, given the size of the challenges of gender equality in our society.
In sport this is also very clear. Women, very much due to cultural issues rooted in society have huge discrepancy between men in this subject.
In more developed countries it is possible to see a little more equity, yet there are numerous differences.
Latin America is the place with the most sedentary on the planet, Brazil leads and women, especially low-income have the big sedentarism rate. More than 80% of Brazilian women on average are sedentary
While football in Brazil is practiced by more than 60% of men, volleyball, first among women reaches 20%. That’s among those who play some sport.
How is sport negatively affected?
Women:
They play less sport, they are more sedentary.
They watch less sport, they represent the smallest part of the audience.
They consume less in sports products, subscribe to less streaming.
They have little participation in senior management positions in the sport.
They represent less of the workforce in the Sports Industry, relative to the population.
Even in more favored classes they practice much less than men, it is cultural. This needs to be changed.
We need female idols that inspire our girls. Sport needs women!
Sports Value´s tribute , symbolized in 4 great Brazilians, true inspirations: Marta, Daiane, Rebeca and Rayssa.
